Dear Email, I Love You.
I came across some comments from Lyris customer Ice.com in a Valentine’s Day email round-up last week, and I couldn’t help but wonder how other retailers would be spreading Cupid’s love this year.
Now my inbox is filled with Valentine’s Day emails, including the following examples from other Lyris clients. I have to admit they make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, and I’m impressed at the variety of techniques they use to engage me.
This JOY the Store email, for example, promotes a Valentine’s Day offer, and encourages subscribers to interact with an app on the site’s home page that allows them to write personalized love notes to their Valentine.
Meanwhile, Harvey Nichols goes crazy in love for free shipping and provides this offer for all orders over £50. Nice work on another front, too – based on my account preferences, I received an email with gift ideas for men. After all, I’m more likely to shop for a Valentine’s gift for my husband, or for a gift we can share. Strawberry Fluff for two, anyone?
I love the use of “lovely” words in this Valentine’s Day email sent by Kitbag. Catchy terms like “no love lost” and “love can set you free” add to the simple design and make even sports apparel seem romantic.
Coming full circle, I opened my inbox yesterday to find this “LOVE{ly}”surprise via Ice.com. The vibrant design and enticing copy make this email a winner! I think it’s especially interesting to see a jewelry company not heavily promoting jewelry in every email during the busiest time of the year for jewelry purchases. Looks like love really does conquer all.
